Antibiotic Free Meat

The next time you are in the grocery store buying meat for dinner, you may want to take a close look at the label. Even though all of the packages may appear to be the same, some may harbor hidden dangers. These meats can make you sick and have the potential to lead to death.

If you have watched the news lately, chances are you have heard about one of the super bugs, bacterial infections that are resistant to common antibiotics. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, is one that frequently hits the news. Have you ever wondered why there are so many of these super bugs popping up everywhere?

The reason these bugs are resistant to antibiotics is they have been overexposed to them, which has allowed them to build up a tolerance to them. The over-prescribing of antibiotics for common illnesses is one culprit. The flu, for example, is a virus and therefore immune to antibiotics. However, many doctors persist in prescribing medicine for it.

Super bugs have also sprung up because in many cases, our food source, too, has been dosed with antibiotics. That is, the meats we eat, if commercially produced, likely come from animals that have been given antibiotics throughout their lives to prevent illness, and help with growth. The problem is, when we ingest the meat, we get any antibiotic residues left over, too.

Residue remains in the meat even after it is processed. In theory, the residue in meat is regulated by government guidelines which are designed to ensure it is not at an unsafe level. However, there are some companies that slip through the regulations.

Another cause for concern with meat that contains antibiotics is the potential for illness caused directly by the meat. Animal meat can contain any number of bacteria, not all of which is innocuous. This bacteria can also build a resistance to the antibiotics used on the animals. As a result, the bacteria may live on in the meat. When you eat the meat, it enters your body, where it can make you seriously ill.

Those with allergies to specific antibiotics should also pay close attention to food labels and choose antibiotic free meats. While government guidelines regulate the amount of residue left in meat, they don’t take into consideration those with allergies to these medications. Depending on the severity of your allergy, eating meat which contains this residue could very well set off an allergic reaction.

When you choose meat that’s been produced without antibiotics, it’s therefore free of antibiotics so that you won’t be exposed to them. Again, there are government regulations to try to control meat safety, but anyone can use a label that says the meat is antibiotic free — even if it’s not.

One of the best ways to make sure that you are buying meat that hasn’t been produced with antibiotics to buy organic meat. To be deemed organic, companies have to meet stringent guidelines; if they don’t, they can lose their organic labeling ability. If your store doesn’t carry certified organic products, you can search for local meat producers who follow organic standards, or you can also often purchase organic meats through online or mail-order merchants, safely.

If you want to eat healthy, though, you don’t have to quit eating meat. As one example, beef is a good protein source and has lots of other nutrients besides. If you include beef in your diet, that’s a good thing as long as you keep portions in check. If you love meat, think about the different ways you can prepare the beef you eat. You can boil it in a stew, roast it on a spit, and much more; no matter how you prepare it, though, quality and fresh ingredients are imperative. Before you think about what you put with your beef, though, make sure you know the beef you are using is actually very good.

That is, the beef you use should be absolutely premium. Beef grass fed is of the premium quality you are are looking for, and it’s better tasting and better for you than the beef that comes from grain fed cows. Food connoisseurs and meat lovers alike know that grass fed cattle have stronger immune systems, which means they don’t have to be subjected to antibiotic injections, as grain fed cattle do. Grass fed cattle don’t have antibiotics in their systems, and they don’t have to ingest other unnecessary chemicals, either. Because of that, beef grass that is organic beef. It’s also much leaner as compared to the beef that comes from cows that have been fed grain-based diets, and the grass itself, too, is very quality. The grass is only exposed to organic fertilizers like fish oil, and the cattle are only exposed to organic foods, too, which make them much leaner.

Grain fed cattle are fed diets that are specifically geared to make them gain weight, and they are actually fed more than they need to eat. In fact, they are given grains before slaughter specifically so that they will gain weight. This is good for business, because this gives meat producers more pounds of meat and therefore more profits, but consumers are the ones who lose out. This is very fatty beef, in contrast to grass fed beef; beef grass that is leaner, as stated previously, and it’s also much higher in omega-3 fatty acid content, which is something you want to look for. Omega-3 fatty acids are very important to our diets, because they lower blood pressure and may protect us from cancer. Beef grass fed is also much higher in natural vitamin E than regular beef is. Conventional beef does have high levels of vitamin E, but that vitamin E is synthetic as opposed to the natural form available in organic beef. When it comes to choosing between natural and synthetic, natural is always better.

Finally, beef grass fed also contains high levels of conjugated linoleic acid, also called CLA. CLA has plenty of health benefits, in that it’s a fatty acid that is a great antioxidant and also may protect against cancer. Researchers also believe that CLA may hinder cancer tumors’ formation. It also speeds up the metabolism, which is why organic beef may be a fat burner; many fat burner recipes contain this. Beef grass fed is far superior to grain fed, in many different ways. Today, you can find it just about everywhere, and it’s good for you. It’s true that beef has had a bad reputation, but that’s not true of organic beef grass fed; it’s a healthy option you can enjoy.

Hand Protection During the Summer

During the summer, we normally think of the damaging affects of the sun on our skin so we take great care in protecting it. One area we do not usually think about is our hands. The sun, water, dirt and other substances can all damage our hands. It is important that one implements a care plan designed to protect the hands because one of the first signs of aging can be seen on the hands.

The following are a number of helpful tips that will protect your hands during the summer:

1. The summer is a time when many people enjoy working in their flower and vegetable gardens. When you are working in the garden, wear garden gloves which will protect your hands from dirt, nail breakage, and skin abrasions.

2. During the summer, we will often do a number of outdoor repairs to the home such as painting, roofing, mowing the lawn, trimming branches, etc. It is important to protect our hands when doing manual labor. Gloves should be worn, but a quality hand cream should be applied. This will help keep your hands moist and hydrated. A good moisturizing hand cream should be applied several times a day. When our skin dries out, they often look as though they have wrinkles. A moisturizing hand cream will prevent drying out.

3. You should also protect your hands from harmful UV rays. A quality hand cream with a sunscreen will protect your skin. It will also keep your hands nourished with vitamins and minerals, as well as moisturized, Sun damage can cause a loss of vitamins so hand cream will prevent nutrient and vitamin loss. It will also keep your skin from drying out. Sunscreen will also prevent age spots

4. When you wash your hands, use a mild and organic soap. You should wash them with warm water rather than hot. Organic soaps do not contain any harmful chemicals which can damage the skin. After you wash your hands, apply a hand cream to retain moisture and promote skin rejuvenation and elasticity. As well, there are exfoliant products you can use on your hands to ensure a deep cleanse leaving your hands smooth and soft. After you have thoroughly rinsed off the soap, apply a hand cream that contains a moisturizer. You should also apply a hand cream before you go to bed. The nourishing substances in the hand cream will work all night.

5. Give your hands an herbal oil massage once a week. This will help soften and enrich the skin with natural healing and protecting ingredients.

6. Give your hands a soak in oatmeal, oil, and warm water once or twice a week. You can use either a teaspoon of almond or olive oil. Soak your hands for about 15 minutes. This will help moisten and improve skin texture. After, pat your hands dry, and apply a hand cream.

Because our hands are very delicate, they need effective protection during the summer in order to prevent damage and pre-mature aging.

Anti Aging Eye Products

The eyes are a unique organ of the body that requires special care. As we age, the eyes are susceptible to a number of negative effects. This includes dark circles under the eyes, puffiness, fine lines, wrinkles, and crows feet. Cosmetic companies are now meeting consumer demands for eye products that reduce the signs of aging. One type of eye product is the use of eye creams.

Because the eyes are lacking fat and oil glands, eye creams are necessary to help soften and nourish the skin around the eyes. Some eye creams improve the firmness and texture of the skin, as well as hydrate the skin. There are eye creams that smooth fine lines, reduce puffiness, and remove dark circles around the eyes. Quality anti aging eye creams contains vitamins A and D as these vitamins are diminished in the skin when there is increased exposure to the sun. Many of these eye creams also contain Vitamin E and Aloe Vera. These nutrients make the skin around the eyes healthier and younger looking.

There are eye creams that increase collagen which stimulates growth of new skin cells as well as helping to repair damaged skin. Quality eye creams for dark circles will normally contain such ingredients as Kojic acid, Vitamin K, and hydroquinone. These ingredients help to prevent bruising and they also lighten the skin. Eye creams that remove wrinkles and puffiness will normally have such ingredients as alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA), peptides, caffeine, retinol, and vitamin C. The ingredients stimulate collagen production and firm the skin. When targeting both wrinkles and dark circles under the eyes, it is recommended that one uses an eye cream that targets a combination of skin problems. There is a new ingredient called Hylexin that has shown promising results in reducing dark circles under the eyes.

Peptides are an important ingredient in eye creams as they are very effective at reducing wrinkles. Products with a high concentration of peptides can be quite expensive. Another ingredient, Hyaluronic acid, which can be found in eye creams, is essential to firming and hydrating the skin. As well, eye creams containing the ingredient escinine, a botanical with anti-inflammatory properties, and manganese, a mineral that increases circulation, will drastically decrease under eye puffiness.

There are also all natural eye creams that can include Vitamins and minerals, natural oils such as nutmeg oil, sunflower oil, and sweet almond oil, as well as sea weed extracts, water/aqua, Avocado oil, rose distillate, glycerin, alcohol, pineapple extract, Beeswax, peanut oil, rose petal extract, Jojoba oil, Mango butter, fragrance essential oil, Shea butter, and much more.

As we age, our skin becomes more susceptible to damage. This is especially true for the skin around the eyes which makes having anti aging eye creams an essential part of skin care products to have at home and use in our daily routine. One must first figure out what eye problem they have such as wrinkles, puffiness, or dark circles under the eyes, and then pick the eye cream that best meets their skin needs. You will soon see improved, healthier, and younger looking skin.

Are Sleep Disorders and Irritable Bowel Syndrome Related?

The feedback and questions from my customers has proven to be extremely valuable when developing and researching health concerns.

I received an interesting comment from an IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) sufferer who had been practicing the Stop Snoring Program. The program not only cured her snoring problem, but she gained great relief for her IBS as well.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) describes many problems affecting the gastro-intestinal tract. Certain foods can act as a trigger resulting in diarrhea or constipation. However, the root cause is believed to be stress and anxiety.

It is not unexpected that my Stop Snoring program would be effective on conditions caused or worsened by stress, since the programs have breathing and relaxation exercises. But this still leaves me wondering about the potential link between IBS and sleep disorders like sleep apnea.

When people (primarily women) who have IBS describe all the symptoms that bother them, they list sleep disorders like snoring and apnea.

It has been shown in recent studies that more than half of IBS patients also report symptoms of sleeping disorders.

People stated that they were often jolted awake which of course disrupts the slumber cycle.

The true or exact reason for IBS is not yet known. However, studies reveal that it may in fact be sleep distrubances that trigger the IBS rather than the reverse.

Once particular sleep study included IBS patients and control patients. They shared no differences in the amount of time dedicated to sleep or the REM (rapid eye movement) cycles.

However, the study did reveal that morning IBS symptoms presented for the people who suffered from sleep interruptions.

Those conducting the research believe that the lack of adequate rest and oxygen to the brain results in a variety of health problems including irritable bowel syndrome.

As I mentioned with my client, you will likely see good relief for both your IBS as well as snoring or sleep apnea with my Stop Snoring Program. It has worked wonders for thousands and you will most likely be one of them.

How Essential Oils are Created

Essential oils are used in perfumes, bath products, creams, body lotions, massage oils and in aromatherapy. The oils are used for promoting physical and mental health as well as to improve aroma. Most formulas require just a couple of drops.

Essential oils are extracted from flowers and plants. Making essential oils involves the use of special equipment. There are a number of methods used to extract the oil that include:

Steam Distillation: Fresh plants are placed in a still. Steam is sent into a lower chamber of the still and sent through the plant ingredients to vaporize the oils in the plant material. The blend of steam and oil then goes through a condenser. The essential oil is extracted from the floral water in the separator. Some plants contain aromatic compounds that remain in the water that is left over after distillation. This water, known as hydrosols, is used by Aromatherapists in products such as cosmetics as a skin moisturizer.

Expression: This extraction method involves pressing the plants skins, seeds, and flesh. It is most often used when extracting citrus peels.

Cold Pressing: This form of extraction is another method of removing oils from fruit. The process involves rolling the fruit between spiked protuberances which penetrate the peel. The squeezing will extract the juices that hold the essential oil. The juice is then put through a centrifuge in order to separate the oil from the juice.

Enfleurage: Flower blossoms are placed on sheets of warm vegetable fat that absorb the oil from the flowers. The fat is separated out with solvents, leaving just the essential oil. It is a lengthy and expensive method of essential oil extraction.

Solvents: This method of extraction is not popular with all-natural Aromatherapists because it involves the use of manmade chemicals. The plant is dissolved in a solvent such as chlorure of methylene, benzene, and hexane. A device is used to extract the essential oil from the evaporated material. The oils extracted are known as “absolutes.”

Carbon Dioxide Extraction: A high pressure is obtained by pumping the gas carbon dioxide into a chamber containing the plant matter. As the pressure increases, the gas becomes a liquid and works as a solvent. The new solvent is then passed into another chamber where the pressure is released. The carbon dioxide solvent vaporizes leaving behind the essential oil. This method is used only for expensive oils because the process is costly.

Learning what oil and fragrance best suits your needs will help achieve optimum health results. Essential oils provide a number of benefits such as alleviate pain, promote relaxation, relieve tension, act as a natural insect repellent, contains anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties, stimulates digestion, alleviate respiratory systems, detoxifies the air, improve mental function, and promotes healthy skin. The essential oil is a very tiny part of the flower or plant. Many plants are needed to create a small amount of oil. Depending on how the essential oil is produced, it can have an impact on the concentration and quality of the oil.

Essential oils are a popular natural health product that is quickly gaining worldwide recognition.

How Harmful is UV Rays to our Skin?

When spring arrives, we all want to spend as much time outdoors as possible. When summer is just around the corner, we look forward to going to the beach, swimming, and participating in a wide variety of outdoor activities. The result of spending so much time outdoors is that we are increasingly exposed to the suns UV rays. This exposure can cause serious harm to our skin if we do not protect it.

It is essential to protect our skin starting at an early age because overexposure to harmful UV rays can take years to develop into skin cancer cells. Ultraviolet has a high frequency and therefore more energy which can be more hazardous. The more energetic a ray of light is, the more that light will break the skin molecules apart thereby damaging the cells. When these rays break through to the nuclei of skin cells and damage DNA, the likelihood of the development skin cancer increases.

There are three types of ultraviolet light as it relates to protecting the skin. They are UVA, UVB, and UVC. Although UVC is the most damaging of the rays, it is totally blocked out by the Earth’s atmosphere. UVB is the wavelength that causes the most sun damage on skin. UVB rays are more likely than UVA rays to cause sunburn, but UVA rays penetrate deeper into the skin. Scientists now think that UVA radiation may increase skin damage that can lead to skin cancer and cause premature aging.

UV rays can penetrate the clouds and are at their highest during late spring and early summer. They are also at their most dangerous from mid-morning to late afternoon, and will cause serious skin damage. The sun and the UV rays can damage your skin within fifteen minutes of exposure. To protect your skin from UV damage, you should apply a zinc sunblock lotion before you are exposed to the sun.

Sunscreens lotions work by deflecting the UV sunlight or dispersing it. It is recommended that you use at least a 15 SPF (Sun Protective Factor) sunscreen. Your eyes can be affected by the UV rays too. You should protect your eyes with sunglasses that indicate that they block UV rays. You should also apply an eye cream that has sunblock on it. Reapply sunscreen lotion often. You should wear a waterproof sunscreen. As well, your lips have very fragile skin and can be seriously damaged by exposure to UV rays. You should apply a lip balm that has a sunscreen in it.

Your skin is the most exposed organ of the body. UV rays can do serious damage to the skin if left unprotected. For best protection, acquire a sunscreen product that is resistant to both UVA and UVB rays. As well, wear a hat that has a wide brim to provide shade for your face. If you do see an unusual change in your skin, see your doctor. Because our skin is valuable to our physical state of well-being, we need to take good care of it.

Following A Natural Diet – Eating Raw Foods

The natural diet is also known as a raw food diet. In this diet the only foods you eat are uncooked and unprocessed plant foods, such as nuts, fresh fruit, sprouts, vegetables, dried fruit, seeds, beans, grains and seaweed. About 75% of all of the foods you eats should be live foods or raw foods.

The reason that eating raw food is important is because it is believed that the enzymes in food that are important for digestion are broken down and become inactive when they are cooked. It is also believed that any nutritional value in the food is severely decreased when the food is cooked.

Those that use the natural diet do so because they feel that it helps their heart, helps with digestion, improves their skin, helps with weight loss and gives them increased energy. Raw foods do not contain any of the bad fats such as saturated and Trans fat that can be quite damaging to their health.

Some of the foods you can eat in the natural diet include purified water, unprocessed natural foods, dried fruit, grains, seeds, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, young coconut milk, juiced vegetables, juiced fruits, seaweed, legumes, beans and nuts. These foods should all be eaten raw and it is best if they are organically grown.

There are some cooking techniques you can use to make some of the foods easier to digest and this can also add a little variety to your meals. You can juice fruits in vegetables instead of eating them whole, you can dehydrate food, you can sprout grains, beans and seeds, you can soak dried fruit and nuts and you can blend.

This diet has none of the dangerous side effects that are present in so many other fad diets. This diet is similar to many detoxing diets and you may experience some symptoms associated with detoxification. These symptoms are slightly like a type of withdrawal in which you may experience cravings, nausea and mild headaches.
